On November 15, 2024, the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) proudly hosted its 46th AGM & Business Forum in Beijing. This year’s forum tackled pressing challenges such as agrifood innovation, the energy transition, and the impact of US election. The final panel delved into the “Energy Transition,” discussing the shift from LNG to Green Hydrogen, as both Canada and China remain committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Graham Shantz, President of the CCBC, expertly moderated the panel, featuring insightful contributions from Mary Shu, Founder and CEO of Syntech Partner, along with Karen Ogen, CEO of the First Nation LNG Alliance, and Matthew Vickers, Executive Chairman and CEO of Northern Nations Cooperative. Together, they explored how both nations are integrating fossil fuels and renewable energy in their transitions, identifying exciting opportunities for collaboration to achieve net-zero goals.
As the Hydrogen Ambassador for the Anhui Provincial New Energy Committee, Mary Shu highlighted the development of hydrogen in Anhui and emphasized the potential for collaboration with Indigenous communities and the Alberta Edmonton Hydrogen Hub. This partnership aims to create synergies for all parties invested in this evolving sector
The forum brought together over 300 participants, strengthening business ties among global leaders passionate about enhancing quality of life and advancing climate tech. It was an inspiring day of dialogue and collaboration!
